The Department of History is among the oldest departments in the College, introduced when the College was established in 1978. Over the years, the Department has produced many successful graduates. The faculties were committed to providing the right learning experience which would ensure the all-round development of its students.
The Department of History has noble aims such as fostering Historical Studies and promoting Historical Research. It has also been attempting to focus on the cultural heritage and traditions of India so as to imbibe in the minds of students the cultural values of the Nation, through class-room lectures and various academic exercises and through different kinds of Seminars, Symposiums and Conferences. This would prepare the students to become good and potential citizens of this Nation and to play a great role in Regional, National and International arena.

Encouraging our students via practicum, extension activities (like historical tours/trips) and seminars to actively engage with the past, not as passive spectators but as participants and practitioners.
Programmes & Curriculum:
The Department offers History as a Major subject at the undergraduate level in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the affiliating university and the academic framework followed by the college.
The curriculum provides students with opportunities to study history of the world, history of India, history of North East India and history of Mizoram from the ancient to the modern period.
Teaching is supported by lectures, textual analysis, classroom discussions, presentations, assignments, and other learner-oriented approaches.
The Department also contributes to the relevant Minor program such as Multidisciplinary Course (MDC), Value-Added Course (VAC), and Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) components of the undergraduate programme, as applicable.

The Department promotes learning beyond the conventional classroom through a range of academic engagements. These activities provide students with opportunities to widened their knowledge, develop confidence, and engage practical historical activities.
