About the Department of Mizo

The Department of Mizo is an academic department of Government Saiha College dedicated to the teaching, learning, and promotion of Mizo language and literature. The Department provides students with opportunities to develop their understanding of Mizo language, literature, culture, and related areas of study.

The Department is committed to fostering academic excellence, critical thinking, research, and appreciation of Mizo literary and cultural heritage. It also encourages students to participate actively in academic, literary, cultural, and co-curricular activities.

Vision

To promote excellence in the study of Mizo language and literature and to nurture students with a strong understanding of their linguistic, literary, and cultural heritage.

Programmes & Curriculum

The Department offers Mizo as a Major subject at the undergraduate level in accordance with the curriculum prescribed by the affiliating university and the academic framework followed by the college.

The Department implements the prescribed curriculum through classroom teaching, student-centred learning, academic discussions, presentations, literary activities, and other appropriate teaching-learning practices.

The Department also participates in the relevant Minor, Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Multidisciplinary Course (MDC), Value-Added Course (VAC), and Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) components of the undergraduate programme, as applicable.
